Time to respond
Time to respond is the time from detection to the first response step. Vendors use it loosely: it can mean the time to a verdict, to an escalation or to an action. Only the last of these is close to containing an attacker, so read the definition before you compare two figures.
Definition
Response begins when someone or something acts on the detection. A triage verdict is a response step in the sense that a decision has been made. It is not a containment step.
When a vendor says it slashes time to respond, ask for the start event, the stop event and the sample. A shorter time to a verdict does nothing for the attacker if no action follows.
Time to respond in Torq's documentation
Torq's home page says to slash mean time to respond and gives no figure, so the claim names a metric without a baseline, a sample or a stop event. vendor claim torq.io, read
The example names a vendor and its own page. A vendor's use of Time to respond may differ from the definition above; the rubric uses the definition on this page.
