What happened

Mate's blog post of 2026-08-27 introduces Gamebooks. The platform page describes them as investigation procedures written as intent: what to establish, what evidence to collect, which actions are allowed and when to escalate, instead of calls to a vendor's API. Agents choose the steps within each Gamebook (mate.security/platform/gamebooks, read 2026-11-03, vendor claim). Mate's newsroom lists SiliconANGLE coverage on 2026-08-26.

Mate's SOAR page cites one unnamed Fortune 500 customer that moved 711 playbooks into 10 Gamebooks in three weeks, against nine months expected (vendor claim, customer quote). The pages do not say which SOAR products Mate imports from or give a migration success rate.

What it changes for a buyer

For a team running playbook SOAR, Gamebooks are a design claim to test in a pilot. The allowed actions list is where containment is bounded, so ask to see it for your own playbooks, and ask which of them translate.
